How to play

🤝 Everyone can win together

Here is the friendly secret: if every citizen contributes the same amount each round, you all finish with an equal pile of Coins and share the victory. The most cooperative outcome is a tie where nobody loses. The catch is that most players get tempted to bank a little more than everyone else, and that is where the real game begins.

🎯 The goal

You are a citizen of a shared nation. The country must reach Prosperity 100, and the instant it does the game ends and the richest surviving citizen wins. So everyone needs the nation to thrive, but only one person takes the crown. That is the whole tension: cooperate to grow the pie, compete to keep the biggest slice.

🔄 Each round

  • You receive income in Coins. Income grows as national Prosperity rises (and with the Roads project), so a thriving nation pays everyone more.
  • You then secretly split that income: keep Coins for yourself, or contribute them to the nation. Everyone decides at the same time, and the amounts are revealed only after the round resolves.

📈 Growing Prosperity

  • All contributions are pooled to raise Prosperity. Generous rounds are far more efficient, because the more everyone pitches in together, the more Prosperity each Coin buys.
  • Each round has a minimum the nation must pool together (shown on your move). Fall short and nothing gets built and Prosperity slips backwards from neglect.

🏗 Infrastructure

Contributions also build five national projects (the build focus rotates each round): Roads raise everyone's income, Education speeds Prosperity growth, Energy makes projects cheaper (and lights the town at night), Healthcare softens crises, and Industry pays contributors a Coin bonus.

⭐ Bonuses and Influence

  • The single biggest giver each round gets 20% of their contribution refunded (ties share it), a little race to be the most generous.
  • Contributing earns Influence, which decays 20% per round, so standing must be continually re-earned. Influence is the weight of your vote.

🗳 Voting

Every 3 rounds the nation votes on policy, weighted by Influence: flat versus progressive tax (a progressive levy taxes the richest into the pool), and expansion versus welfare (welfare redirects part of the pool to the poorest citizen). Policy shapes the rounds that follow.

⚠️ Dangers

  • Random events such as market crashes, droughts, and outbreaks can knock Prosperity down. Healthcare softens the blow.
  • Free-riding does not pay. If you contribute almost nothing, the other citizens stop carrying you and Prosperity slides, until you pitch in your fair share again. Hold out too long and the nation collapses, and then nobody wins.
  • Hit 0 Coins and you go bankrupt, out of the final ranking. If Prosperity ever falls to 0, society collapses and everyone loses.

🏆 How to win

Contribute enough to keep the nation growing and stay respected, but time your spending so you are sitting on the most Coins the moment Prosperity hits 100. Give too little and you are punished, give too much and someone thriftier out-banks you. Find the edge.
